Dining in Middle Polk

30 Mar Dining in Middle Polk

Avital Ungar and I met over coffee in the Summer of 2015 and agreed we needed to draw attention to the varied opportunities for dining in the Middle Polk area. We sampled restaurants and specialty food purveyors and came up with a short list of 16 stand-outs. Some are historic, some are new to Polk Street, two have Michelin stars (Acquerello and Lord Stanley). All are worth a visit. We created handy maps for locals and visitors to use to navigate fine dining in Middle Polk. [The maps are available at various local merchants, concierge desks at hotels of distinction, and SF Visitor Information Center. Links to pdfs of the maps are posted below.]

You’ll find everything from awesome ice cream (it’s worth the walk, and you’ll feel less guilt walking some of the calories off), to fresh local seafood (more than worth the wait-try the Italian sashimi!), to creative¬†cocktails (the bartenders at 1760 are amazing) and beyond. Several of these restaurants can create mouth-watering vegetarian menus, and many have carry out options.

Middle Polk is the place for discriminating eaters looking for something new.
